Scotland is one of the best countries in the world to be a Humanist. There are a number of organisations who identify as Humanist and are authorised by National Records of Scotland to conduct legal marriages. However, funeral Celebrancy is effectively unregulated and wedding celebrancy only partially so.
How then, can you be assured you’re making the right choice?
- All of our Celebrants have been through a rigorous selection process. It takes a special skill-set to become a CHA Celebrant and all candidates must be able to demonstrate that they either have those skills or they have the potential to gain them. Because of this we’ve never had a complaint about the poor performance or conduct of one of our Celebrants.
- All candidates are then trained to the highest standard. Humanist Celebrancy with the CHA is a unique position and we train people to conduct ceremonies our way, to our satisfaction.
- All CHA Celebrants are covered by our public liability insurance.
- Our Celebrants adhere to our backup policy which enables us to provide cover in the (unlikely) event that they become ill or are otherwise unable to carry-out a ceremony.
- As far as we know, the CHA is the only Humanist organisation in Scotland whose Celebrants are members of the PVG Scheme. This is a much higher and exacting standard than a basic disclosure certificate and offers the highest standard of protection to the public. If you’re thinking of using a Celebrant who isn’t a member of the PVG Scheme, ask them why they’re not a member. Who would you be comfortable inviting into your home?
- Most of your ceremony fee goes to your Celebrant, which enables us to be available to conduct amazing ceremonies!
That’s very simple.
One option is to fill in the contact form with the details of your ceremony and one of our Celebrants will be in touch.
Alternatively, simply browse our Celebrant profiles and get in touch with the Celebrant you want to speak to. If they aren’t available, they’ll help you find someone.
